What Happens After I Submit My Onshore Partner Visa Application?
After submitting your Onshore Partner Visa application, here’s what to expect:
Acknowledgment: The Department of Home Affairs will send an acknowledgment, confirming receipt of your application.
Bridging Visa Grant: If your current visa expires while waiting, a Bridging Visa (typically Bridging Visa A) allows you to stay in Australia during processing.
Processing and Assessment: Immigration officers review your documents, relationship evidence, health checks, and character assessments. This process can take several months.
Requests for Additional Information: You may be asked for further details or to attend an interview to confirm your relationship's authenticity.
Initial Visa Decision: If approved, you’ll receive a temporary Partner Visa (subclass 820), which lets you live in Australia. After two years, the permanent Partner Visa (subclass 801) is assessed based on your ongoing relationship.
Updates and Communication: Throughout the process, monitor your ImmiAccount for updates and requests to ensure a smooth application journey.
